There are two forms of vitamin D. These are D2 or ergocalciferol or D3, i.e. cholecalciferol.
D2 is most commonly found in plant sources, but better known is D3, found in fish, eggs, liver, butter, and some types of lichens. Even the skin itself, in contact with ultraviolet rays, forms this version of vitamin, i.e. vitamin D3.

Reindeer lichen has been known for a long time, as data indicating its use can be traced back to the 15th century. In fact, it is a nutritious symbiotic mixture between algae and fungus, which - as its name suggests – is used in the diet of deer.
Lichen is highly resistant to the conditions prevailing in the environment where it grows. It is resistant to cold and survives quite a long time even without water. It contains important nutrients, including vitamin D3.
Its useful value has also been discovered by humans, and today, dietary supplements made from reindeer lichen, such as vitamin D3 capsules, are available.
Capsules contain (microcrystalline cellulose, vitamin D3 from reindeer lichen (Cladonia rangiferina), vitamin K2 MK7 (Menaquinone-7)). Capsule (hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose, plant origin).
