Coconuts are the fruit of the coconut palm tree (Latin: Cocos Nucifera). One palm tree can grow from 50 up to 180 coconuts per year. Coconut grows in all tropical countries, regions and islands of the world.
In the Philippines, it is said that the man who plants a coconut tree has planted dishware, clothing, food and drink, a home for himself and inheritance for his children.
Coconut is so prized in Asia and the Pacific that it is considered as the tree of life and features very heavily in local cuisines.
It is characterized by its excellent taste and is a great source of protein and dietary fiber
Coconut flour is made by grinding dried coconut flesh, after the oil has been extracted. Since it does not contain gluten that irritates the intestines or phytic acid that inhibits nutrient absorption, it is an excellent alternative to wheat flour. It tastes great and is suitable for low carb diets.
In addition to being a great alternative for anyone avoiding gluten, coconut flour is also excellent for anyone on a low-carb diet, as it is low in carbohydrates. Also suitable for LCHF, keto and paleo diets.
