Alongside a calorie-restricted diet, it contributes to weight loss. The beneficial effect is achieved by taking 3g of glucomannan in three 1g doses with 1-2 glasses of water daily before meals, while following a calorie-restricted diet.
Glucomannan helps to maintain normal blood cholesterol levels. The beneficial effect is achieved by taking 4g glucomannan daily.
Glucomannan is high in dietary fiber (65%). Dietary fiber helps maintain normal digestion and has a beneficial effect on the digestive system. Fiber is an important part of a balanced diet. Our digestive tract is unable to digest fiber, which therefore benefits the overall digestion.
Glucomannan is derived from the konjac tuber, an Asian plant. It has long been used in Japanese cuisine as a thickener and gelling agent. Glucomannan fibers have a fantastic property - they are super absorbent. In a unique way, the molecules bind up to 300 times more water than their own weight. In this way, glucomannan expands in the stomach, giving a feeling of fullness.
Konjac glucomannan flour is great for making puddings, pancakes and bread, as well as other baked goods. It acts as a thickener and binds the ingredients without imparting a scent or flavor. You can easily use this flour to replace a part of plain cereal flour and prepare dishes that will have a much lower caloric value.
According to European legislation, glucomannan is the only food with a scientifically proven weight loss effect, as certified by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).
Using organic konjac glucomannan powder
To thicken soups, stews and sauces, mix cognac flour with salt or sugar, add to a small amount of cold water and mix in the dish. To prevent large lumps, never add the powder directly. The flour can also be used as a binding agent in making bread, pies, cake filling, pancakes, desserts and baked goods, for pudding, as a gelling agent or as an egg substitute. It is excellent for baking and cooking if you would like to avoid plain flour or starch.
For weight loss and maintaining blood cholesterol levels, mix a small teaspoon of cognac flour in a glass of cold water, immediately stirring vigorously. Drink immediately when all lumps are dissolved. Make sure to drink before the konjac flour starts to thicken. You can also add a teaspoon of sweetener or honey to the water to improve the flavor (be sure to add this before the konjac flour). The recommended daily amount is one teaspoon (approx. 3g) before meals.
It can also be taken by children, but only under parental supervision.
