MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) is a form of natural organic sulfur. Its name, thebeauty mineral is justified, as your skin, hair and nails will be really grateful if you take it regularly.
Are you also experiencing brittle nails, brittle and thin hair and skin problems (allergies, rashes, dry patches, redness, eczema etc)? Worry not, sulfur will help you get glowing skin, strong nails and strong and thick hair.
Sulfur is an extremely important mineral that is crucial for the formation of collagen, which is responsible for healthy tissues. It is the third most important mineral for the body (after calcium and phosphorus) and is found everywhere - in muscles, skin and bones. It is required for healthy nails, hair, skin and elastic tissues (e.g. cartilage).
How much natural organic sulfur is in your diet? Do you only eat food that is local and organic?
Probably not. We get sulfur via food; our diets nowadays feature so much processed food that the majority of us do not get enough sulfur. This is reflected in weak nails and hair, skin issues and poorer joint function.
How does MSM form?
MSM is formed when algae and plankton in oceans die off and decompose. The resulting compound evaporates into clouds, and then falls back to the earth as rain and becomes food for all kinds of terrestrial organisms. High concentrations of sulfur are found in plants exposed to heavy rainfall, such as pine bark, wild grass and aloe vera. Because the amounts of MSM in natural sources are extremely small, food supplements use MSM obtained in laboratories.
MSM works best when taken together with vitamin C - e.g. with citrus fruits or camu camu. Due to its benefits, MSM is also widely used in cosmetics and is added to moisturizers, masks and other products.
