Which part of the plant contains the most magnesium?
Magnesium is the element that enables photosynthesis. It is located in the middle of the chlorophyll molecule. As we know, chlorophyll is found in green plants. The Ulva lactuca algae is wonderfully and vibrantly green – achieving such a color requires a lot of magnesium, which enables photosynthesis.
Why seaweed?
Ulva lactuca is a type of sea lettuce with green leaves that are strongly reminiscent of the usual salad from the garden in terms of shape and color. It is one of the most important foods from the sea. This seaweed might also be considered as sea vegetable.
It is often used in various soups, such as Japanese miso soup, as well as in salads.
As magnesium is plant-derived, i.e. from algae, it is also less likely to cause diarrhoea, as this is not common in plants.
To prevent the algae from containing unwanted substances, such as heavy metals, it is extremely important that they are organic – just like the magnesium-rich seagrass, which is the major component of Malinca natural magnesium capsules.

How should I store Magnesium?
Store the product in a dry and cool place, away from moisture and do not expose it to direct light and heat. After opening, use within the allotted time. If you plan to keep the product open longer, keep it tightly closed in the refrigerator. Do not touch the capsules with wet hands.
Does magnesium from algae cause diarrhoea?
Most people do not get diarrhoea from algae, or are less likely to do so. Magnesium supplements can indeed cause diarrhoea, as they draw water into the gut, which speeds up excretion. This is why some forms of magnesium like to be used specifically to fight constipation. Algal magnesium, however, works together with other natural ingredients or phytonutrients in algae making it closer to the magnesium we get directly from food. By comparison, other foods rich in magnesium do not cause diarrhoea. The absorption of magnesium from algae is also different. As with foods, it is more uniform and therefore magnesium is less likely to rapidly draw water into the intestine and cause diarrhoea. Magnesium from algae is released more slowly into the gut, but this is why it has a more thorough and continuous absorption, as it does not slip rapidly through the gut as it would if it were causing diarrhoea.

Can you overdose? What happens if you take too much magnesium?
An overdose is not very likely to happen. If, however, it does occur, people with kidney failure are the most exposed. The kidneys expel excess magnesium from the body.
